SUPERGIRL Will Meet Classic Superman Villain Mr. Mxyzptlk Later This Season

Following this week’s midseason finale, which kicked off The CW’s big “Heroes vs. Aliens” crossover event, Supergirl is now on winter break. But when the show returns next year, Kara will be facing a new villain – one who Superman fans should easily recognize.

ComicBook has confirmed that Mr. Mxyzptlk will be appearing on Supergirl later this season. The character will be in two episodes. No actor has been cast in the role, and we don’t have an official character biography from the network…yet.

Mxyzptlk is one of the campier and more bizarre members of Superman’s rogues gallery. In the comics, the magical trickster enjoys tormenting the Man of Steel, but if he speaks his name backwards, he is sent back to his home, the fifth dimension.

Supergirl will mark Mxyzptlk’s fourth live action portrayal. The character was previously seen on Superboy, Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, and Smallville.
