DC TV News Bits: Adam West Joins POWERLESS, THE FLASH Adds Abra Kadabra

In the years since playing Batman in the 1960s television show, Adam West has been involved in a slew of DC-related projects. He voiced characters in a couple of animated Batman shows, while last year, he returned to the iconic role in Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders. Now, he’s returning to the live action TV realm.

According to Entertainment Weekly, West will guest star in an episode of NBC’s Powerless. This role follows the actor’s voiceover contribution in the show’s pilot. West will play Dean West, who is Chairman of Wayne Industries. He visits Charm City to inform Van and Emily of an attack in Gotham.

Powerless has included a lot of references to the Batman world. In fact, the show’s setting was changed from a generic insurance company to a subsidy of Wayne Industries. Let’s not even mention the fact that Van is Bruce Wayne’s cousin. So, West should fit right in to this series.

In other DC TV news, The Flash is getting ready to introduce another iconic villain of the Scarlet Speedster’s. DC Comics has confirmed that actor David Dastmalchian will play Abra Kadabra later this season. Of course, this isn’t Dastmalchian’s first DC role. He was in The Dark Knight, and more recently, he appeared on Gotham.

In the show, Abra Kadabra is “…a criminal from a distant future whose advanced technological powers seem like magic, [and] the time-traveling Abra Kadabra holds a secret the Flash will stop at nothing to uncover.” The Flash marks the character’s first live action appearance.
