All Of The Spider-Man Films Ranked

The second film in Marc Webb’s Spider-Man series is definitely the worst of the worst. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is unfocused, insanely goofy, and tries miserably to set up a universe that no one wanted to see. The film’s only saving grace is Andrew Garfield’s (Spider-Man) on Emma Stone’s (Gwen Stacy) performances. The villains are terrible and the story is convoluted. It’s a mess and not even an enjoyable one. The action scenes and special effects were great so that’s something.

The third film is usually the worst and here is no different. Spider-Man 3 had a tough act to follow after two spectacular films proceeding it. The film focuses on Peter getting the symbiote suit and dealing with its effects. It also focuses on Harry wanting to get revenge on Spider-Man for killing his father. While also focussing on Peter and MJ’s relationship, and the Sandman killing Uncle Ben. This film doesn’t know what story it wants to tell. Each one seems interesting enough to have its own movie, but instead, we try to cram at least two films worth of material into one movie. Spider-Man 3 suffers the same problems The Amazing Spider-Man 2 does, but they at least manage to still make it a coherent story.

The Amazing Spider-Man got a lot more hate than it probably deserved. Sure it goes over some of the same beats the original Spider-Man film did, but it was still a decent time. Garfield and Stone once again carry the film. Their chemistry is some of the best I’ve seen in any superhero flick. The Lizard is a capable foil, and Spider-Man’s origin is done really well. There are a few missteps – the tone might be darker than necessary, The “Best Kind” line needed to be cut out etc. But overall it’s still a solid movie, but the horrible sequel seems to overshadow that.

Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man is still one of the best comic book movies you’ll see. It’s got everything, an amazing villain in the Green Goblin, a great cast and most importantly, heart. The film is the perfect Spider-Man origin story. Toby Maguire is solid as Peter Parker and Willem Dafoe is incredible as the Green Goblin. It’s cheesy but in the best possible way.  That’s what makes this movie special. It doesn’t take itself too seriously, but it still has its dramatic moments. I still have fun watching this movie. Spider-Man is truly a classic.

The number one film is obviously Spider-Man 2.This film changed the game. Spider-Man 2 is almost a perfect comic book film. The action is great, the characters are (mostly) great, and the villain is still one of the best we’ve seen. Alfred Molina brings this film to a whole new level. Honestly, if it wasn’t for Mary Jane the film might be a perfect 10 [she’s the worst and you know it]. Everything else is amazing, and it still holds up incredibly well 13 years later.
