Marvel Animation held its panel at D23 Expo last night, offering some new insight into upcoming episodes of the company’s shows. They also announced the voice cast for Marvel’s Spider-Man, along with when we can expect it to premiere.

Marvel’s Spider-Man will premiere on Saturday, August 19th at 7 AM EST on Disney XD, and it will later be added to the Disney XD mobile app and VOD. This is a one-hour premiere.

The voice cast consists of Robbie Daymond as Peter Parker/Spider-Man, Max Mittleman as Harry Osborn, Nadji Jeter as Miles Morales/Spider-Man, Melanie Minichino as Anya Corazon, Fred Tatasciore as Max Modell, Laura Bailey as Gwen Stacy, Nancy Linari as Aunt May, Patton Oswalt as Uncle Ben, Scott Menville as Otto Octavius/Doc Ock, John DiMaggio as Miles Warren/The Jackal, Alastair Duncan as Adrian Toomes/Vulture, and Marvel’s Chief Creative Officer Joe Quesada as the coffee shop owner Joe.

In the new series, Marvel’s Spider-Man, we will see a fresh take on Spider-Man, as Peter Parker is learning the responsibility that comes along with being a new, super-powered hero in New York City, just as he’s being accepted into Horizon High, a high school for brilliant young scientific minds. He struggles with the duality of his social life at school and hiding his secret identity from everyone including his best friend Harry Osborn, who attends the competing Osborn Academy for geniuses. As Peter embraces his alter-ego and takes on super villains such as Vulture, Lizard, Doctor Octopus and Sandman, he watches his hero lifestyle come between his personal relationships and struggles to keep Harry from landing on the wrong side of the law.

In other Marvel Animation news, it was confirmed that Disney XD’s Guardians of the Galaxy has been renewed for a third season. Subtitled Mission Breakout, this season will see the Guardians deal with being framed by the Collector, stage a huge operation in the Nova Corps, and expose a Secret Invasion. Plus, Guardians and Spider-Man will cross over later this season for a story involving the Symbiote.
And lastly, Marvel is reteaming with The LEGO Group for a new animated special, titled LEGO Marvel Super Heroes – Guardians of the Galaxy: The Thanos Threat. The 22-minute special focuses on the Guardians protecting the Build Stone, a powerful and creative relic, from falling into the hands of Thanos, Ronan the Accuser, Nebula, and the Ravagers. More details will be announced soon.
