Rumored Details on Steve Rogers' Role in AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR

Steve Rogers has had a truly complex character arc in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He was a World War II hero as Captain America, he was the leader of the Avengers, and he helped dismantle S.H.I.E.L.D./HYDRA. In Civil War, Rogers let go of the Captain America persona, and due to his refusal to comply to the Sokovia Accords, he’s essentially a war criminal.

How will this character progression continue in Avengers: Infinity War? MCU Exchange has learned some potential details on Rogers’ role in the movie, and if these details are true, he will be taking on an entirely new persona.

According to the site, Rogers will adopt a new alias: Nomad. In the comics, Rogers became Nomad after he abandons the Captain America mantle, due to being disillusioned with the United States government. While Rogers’ uniform in Infinity War won’t be identical to the Nomad suit from the comics, it will pay homage to it. Also, as seen in the D23-exclusive trailer, Rogers now has a beard.

Again, this is just a rumor for now. However, Rogers becoming Nomad is a natural progression of his character arc. Will he eventually become Captain America again, though? Or will he pass it on to a new player, like Bucky Barnes or Sam Wilson? We’ll just have to wait and see.
