FEATURE: 5 More Teams Who Should Join the DC Films Universe

The DC Universe has countless superhero and supervillain teams, and the film universe is no different. The Justice League and the Suicide Squad are crucial parts of the franchise, while films starring Justice League Dark, the Green Lantern Corps, and Gotham City Sirens are in development.
Of course, there are plenty of other options for teams in the DC Extended Universe DC Films’ shared universe. Below, we’ve compiled a list of five groups we would like to see on the big screen.
Teen Titans
This option is pretty much a no brainer. The Teen Titans is one of DC’s biggest franchises outside of the films, thanks to the Teen Titans Go! series and a slew of animated movies. Additionally, the live action Titan show is launching next year. But, how long until we see the Titans go into DC Films?
Dick Grayson is already joining the franchise with the Nightwing movie, while longtime member Cyborg is now a member of the Justice League. Additionally, characters like Batgirl are on the way. If DC wanted to, they could easily have these heroes join forces in their own team-up film, while bringing in new characters like Starfire and Beast Boy. Hopefully, they’ll figure it out sooner than later.
Justice League of America (New 52)
The New 52 introduced a new Justice League of America team, composed of lesser known heroes. Formed by ARGUS, the team is put in place in the event that the main Justice League goes rogue. Members include Green Arrow, Martian Manhunter, Catwoman, and many more. The JLA eventually comes into conflict with the League in the “Trinity War” story arc.
The New 52’s JLA is a pretty fascinating concept that would work well on screen. It’s not hard to imagine the government making some sort of failsafe should the Justice League turn, and forming the JLA is an ideal approach. Plus, it’s a good way to introduce fan-favorite characters like Green Arrow and Martian Manhunter.
Birds of Prey
The Birds of Prey is a team of female superheroes in the DC Universe. The lineup typically consists of Batgirl/Oracle, Black Canary, and Huntress, with characters like Katana also joining. A Birds of Prey movie was rumored to be in development a couple years ago, but nothing official has been announced right now. That being said, we’d love to see the team on film.
As said before, Batgirl is joining the universe soon with her own movie, while Black Canary was once rumored for a Justice League role. So, why not bring them together for a Birds of Prey film? Additionally, Katana was previously introduced in Suicide Squad, while Huntress can easily make her debut somewhere. And with the comic book movie genre finally starting to embrace female-centered films, this one is pretty much inevitable.
Justice Society of America

The Justice Society of America is a precursor to the Justice League in the comics, featuring characters like Alan Scott/Green Lantern and Jay Garrick/Flash. The team appeared on Smallville and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, but currently, there are no plans to bring them to the big screen. So, why not squeeze them into DC Films’ universe?

Exploring a superhero group in the World War II era would be a lot of fun, and the JSA has countless members to choose from to make up a cinematic team. Perhaps a film adaptation could look at “The Liberty Files,” an Elseworld comic where the JSA is a team of covert government operatives, rather than full-on superheroes.
Legion of Doom
And for our last option, we’re switching gears from heroes to villains. The Legion of Doom is the evil counterpart of the Justice League, uniting some of DC’s greatest villains. Frequent members include Lex Luthor, Gorilla Grodd, and more. One way that DC Films can stand out from other comic book studios is emphasizing on a team of supervillains. Enter the Legion of Doom.
DC Films has already introduced many iconic villains, such as Lex Luthor, Joker, and the Suicide Squad. Characters like Deathstroke and Black Manta are coming soon. Imagine some of these characters joining forces for an epic team-up? That would be the perfect Justice League sequel right there.
Honorable Mentions: Metal Men, Young Justice, Secret Society of Supervillains, Outsiders, Secret Six
