SHAZAM Movie Casts its Billy Batson

Casting is now well underway on DC’s next movie, Shazam. Zachary Levi is set to play the titular hero, while Mark Strong is in talks to play the villainous Dr. Sivana. Additionally, Grace Fulton is joining as an unknown character. Now, we know who will play the heart of the film, Billy Batson.

It has been announced (via Variety) that actor Asher Angel (best known for Disney Channel’s Andi Mack) is set to play Billy Batson in Shazam. Billy is a child who is given powers by the wizard Shazam, and when he says the name “Shazam!”, he is transformed into an adult superhero, who is played by Zachary Levi.

Shazam will be directed by David F. Sandberg from a script by Darren Lemke and Henry Gayden. Production begins in February for an April 2019 release. Stay tuned for more updates as we have them.
