Manu Bennett Talks Support for Joe Manganiello’s Deathstroke and Possible TITANS Appearance

Manu Bennett’s Slade Wilson/Deathstroke has consistently been one of the highlights of Arrow. The character recently returned to the show for a two-episode arc, which brought Slade closer to his comic book roots. It’s unclear if Slade will return again in the future, but in the meantime, we have another live action Deathstroke out there.

Joe Manganiello was cast as the character last year, and he made his first appearance in the Justice League post-credits scene. Manganiello is attached to reprise his role in a Deathstroke movie, while he was originally announced as the villain of The Batman, which may or may not still be happening.

Regardless, Bennett is very supportive of Deathstroke’s big screen version. At Heroes & Villains Fan Fest San Jose (via ComicBook), Bennett shares his support for Manganiello’s Slade Wilson. “To be honest, when he was announced to do this role, I was very very happy for him. Of course, I was a little bit disappointed that I wouldn’t get to do such a wonderful opportunity of getting onto that big screen with Deathstroke. But listen, I have had the wonderful opportunity to be a TV actor, and to spend the time it takes to cook a character. And sometimes, I don’t think you get that chance when you’re on the big screen. But as for Joe’s ability to get up there and do this character, I’m behind him, I hope, as much as everybody else is behind him.”

It’s not known when or if Slade will be coming back to Arrow. But what if he shows up on DC’s Titans show? Deathstroke was originally a Teen Titans villain, and that series has been constantly speculated by fans to be set in the Arrowverse. However, Bennett says that, despite his interest in doing more with the character, he hasn’t heard anything. “There’s been no discussion about that. And I don’t know. The power’s in the pen, that’s all I can say about that. I really have no idea. The power’s in the pen, and in the audience saying what they want.”
