BLACK PANTHER Outpacing All Other Superhero Movies on Fandango

Marvel Studios’ Black Panther is finally hitting theaters in a couple weeks, and it is on track to be another mega-hit for the company. Early reactions say that it’s incredible, while early box office tracking suggests an opening well over $100 million. Now, the film has broken a pretty big record.

Fandango has announced that Black Panther is outpacing every other superhero film in advance ticket sales, making it the genre’s biggest seller on the platform. The top spot was previously held by 2016’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. This is yet another indicator that interest is very, very high in this movie.

Current tracking has Black Panther opening somewhere in the $100-120 million range, with the potential to overperform. Based on its advance ticket sales, it’s easy to see the movie making a lot more. It could totally hit the $160 million range. But, expect more accurate tracking closer to the film’s release.

Black Panther is scheduled to hit theaters on February 16th. The 18th installment of the Marvel Cinematic Universe stars Chadwick Boseman, Michael B. Jordan, Lupita Nyong’o, Danai Gurira, Martin Freeman, Daniel Kaluuya, Angela Bassett, Forest Whitaker, and Andy Serkis. Ryan Coogler directs from a script that he co-wrote with Joe Robert Cole.
