Five Actors Who Should Be Considered For Nightwing

Robin is one of the most well-known characters in all of comics. Starring alongside Batman, leading the Teen Titans, and even leading his own series as Nightwing; it only for him to get his own film. Lead by The LEGO Batman Movie director Chris McKay, Dick Grayson will return to the big screen. Plenty of actors can bring the former Boy Wonder to life, but for now, we’ve narrowed down a list of 5 actors we think are best for the role.

#5: Lewis Tan

At number five is Lewis Tan. He’s relatively new compared to other actors on the list, but that doesn’t mean he shouldn’t be considered. He’s a solid actor and already has the moves to play Nightwing. He was also one of the few good things in Marvel’s Iron Fist for what it’s worth. He’s 30 years old and would work well with Ben Affleck’s Batman (assuming he stays). Even if he Affleck leaves, Tan should be able to hold his own.

#4: Michael B. Jordan

Michael B. Jordan is no stranger to superhero movies, starring as Johnny Storm in 2015’s Fantastic Four and Killmonger in 2018’s Black Panther respectively. We know Jordan has comedic timing, something essential to Nightwing, but he also knows how to bring it in dramatic moments. The only downside is that this would be his third superhero outing. Is it possible to be in too many franchises? I don’t know, but if anyone can do it it’s Jordan.

#3: Finn Wittrock

Finn Wittrock is the living embodiment of Dick Grayson. He, much like Tan isn’t as well known, but his work on American Horror Story was fantastic. He was even nominated for an Emmy. He’s been on Broadway and played a supporting role in the Academy Award-winning film La La Land.

Wittrock has the talent and the look down, and wherever he is success seems to follow. He’s been rumored to be attached to the role for almost a year now. If it turns out to be true, you don’t get much better.

#2: Dacre Montgomery

2017 was the year of Dacre Montgomery. The Australian actor played a supporting role in the critically-acclaimed Netflix series Stranger Things 2; as well as starring in the Power Rangers film. These two roles show how much range Montgomery has as an actor. One character was an abusive, racist, “bad boy”, and the other was a caring, kind, superhero.

At just 23 years old he’d be on the younger side, but if Batman gets recast with a younger actor it shouldn’t be a problem. He’s a star on the rise, and a role like Nightwing would be a great move for both him and DC.

#1: Dev Patel

Dev Patel is one of the best in the business. He was nominated for an Academy Award last year for his phenomenal work in Lion and is only 27 years old. While he was great in Lion, he needs that one role to for him to be a household name. What better role than Nightwing? Patel would be fantastic as Nightwing, and DC can always use award-winning talent. Just thinking about it gets me excited!
