Marvel Announces BLACK PANTHER: THE ALBUM Produced by Kendrick Lamar

We’re only a month away from the release of Black Panther, and Marvel Studios is doing a big marketing push. One of the things promoting the film is a new album.

Marvel has announced that Kendrick Lamar and Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith will curate and produce Black Panther: The Album, containing original music from and inspired by the movie. The two will collaborate with director Ryan Coogler on creating the music and putting it in the film. This is the first MCU movie that integrates multiple original songs specifically created for the movie.

Lamar collaborated with SZA on the album’s lead single, “All the Stars,” which you can listen to HERE. And you can pre-order the album on iTunes by clicking HERE. The album arrives on February 9th, one week before the film’s release.

Lamar had this to say about the album. “Marvel Studios’ Black Panther is amazing, from its cast to its director. The magnitude of this film showcases a great marriage of art and culture. I’m truly honored to contribute my knowledge of producing sound and writing music alongside Ryan [Coogler] and Marvel’s vision.” In his own statement, Coogler says, “I am honored to be working with such an incredible artist whose work has been so inspirational, and whose artistic themes align with those we explore in the film. I can’t wait for the world to hear what Kendrick and TDE have in store.”

Black Panther is scheduled to hit theaters on February 16th. The 18th installment of the Marvel Cinematic Universe stars Chadwick Boseman, Michael B. Jordan, Lupita Nyong’o, Danai Gurira, Martin Freeman, Daniel Kaluuya, Angela Bassett, Forest Whitaker, and Andy Serkis. Ryan Coogler directs from a script that he co-wrote with Joe Robert Cole.
