BLACK PANTHER Easily Wins Second Weekend with Estimated $108 Million

Marvel Studios’ Black Panther has been a hit unlike anyone expected, with the critically acclaimed film outpacing even The Avengers at the box office. To no one’s surprise, the movie has easily retained the top spot in its second weekend.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Black Panther has earned an estimated $108 million this weekend, bringing its domestic total past $400 million. This marks one of the biggest second weekends in history, behind only Star Wars: The Force Awakens ($149.2 million). It’s also a mere 47% drop from its opening weekend, one of lowest declines for a superhero film, while the movie is only the fourth to ever crack $100 million in its second weekend.

Overseas, Black Panther took in $83.8 million, bringing its worldwide total to $704 million. And this is without China, where the movie releases on March 9th. Needless to say, the film is going to make well over a billion, and it could even match the Avengers movies when all is said and done.

Stay tuned for more box office updates as we have them.
