BLACK PANTHER Now Tracking for Huge $150 Million Opening Weekend

Initial tracking for Marvel’s Black Panther suggested that the film would open in the $100-120 million range. But usually, tracking for big blockbusters goes up as we get closer to the movie’s release. Two weeks before release, Black Panther has gotten an increase – a big one at that.

According to Variety, updated tracking for Black Panther has the film on course for a massive $150 million over the four-day Presidents Day weekend. It could even break the record set by 2016’s Deadpool, which opened to $152 million during that weekend.

This news comes on the heels of rave reactions from the world premiere. Additionally, Black Panther set another record this week as the biggest superhero movie on Fandango’s advance ticket sales. Needless to say, the film is going to be a huge hit.

Black Panther is scheduled to hit theaters on February 16th. The 18th installment of the Marvel Cinematic Universe stars Chadwick Boseman, Michael B. Jordan, Lupita Nyong’o, Danai Gurira, Martin Freeman, Daniel Kaluuya, Angela Bassett, Forest Whitaker, and Andy Serkis. Ryan Coogler directs from a script that he co-wrote with Joe Robert Cole.
