Chris Hemsworth in Talks to Star in Sony's MEN IN BLACK Spinoff

Following the trilogy led by Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones, Sony is continuing the Men in Black series with a new film. While not a reboot, the movie will focus on new characters in an attempt to revive the franchise – think Jurassic World. F. Gary Gray is attached to direct. Now, we have the first bit of casting news.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Chris Hemsworth is in early negotiations to star in the Men in Black spinoff. If a deal closes, Hemsworth will play one of three new characters – a white man, a black woman, and an older man. The film is set in London.

Hemsworth, of course, is best known for playing Thor in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He will next reprise the role in this summer’s Avengers: Infinity War and next year’s Avengers 4. With those films marking the end of his Marvel contract, Hemsworth may move on from playing the God of Thunder. That would open the door to him trying another franchise. Enter Men in Black.

Stay tuned for more news as we have it. The new Men in Black is scheduled to hit theaters on June 14th, 2019.
