F. Gary Gray in Talks to Direct MEN IN BLACK Spinoff at Sony

One of Sony Pictures’ most iconic franchises is Men in Black, which is loosely based on the Malibu Comics (an imprint of Marvel) series. So far, the franchise has spawned three films starring Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones, grossing more than $1.6 billion worldwide. Now, a spinoff is in the works, and a director has been found.

According to Deadline, The Fate of the Furious director F. Gary Gray is in negotiations to direct the next Men in Black movie. The movie won’t be a reboot, but it will star a new cast of characters intended to relaunch the franchise. (Think Jurassic World.) Smith and Jones are not expected to return for this film.

The new Men in Black has a script written by Matt Holloway and Art Marcum. The movie is set to hit theaters on June 14th, 2019. Stay tuned for more news as we have it.
