BLACK PANTHER Surpasses $1 Billion at the Worldwide Box Office

Needless to say, Black Panther has been a bigger hit than anyone predicted. The Marvel Studios blockbuster has one of the biggest opening weekends of all time, while it has been fueled by extremely positive word-of-mouth from critics and audiences. Now, less than a month after release, it has passed a huge milestone.

Variety confirms that Black Panther has surpassed the $1 billion mark worldwide. It is the 33rd film in history to pass the milestone, while it is the seventh comic book movie to do so. However, it’s the first comic book movie without Iron Man or Batman to do it.

This weekend, Black Panther is on track to gross more than $37 million this weekend, potentially retaining the #1 spot for the fourth weekend in a row. This will put it past The Dark Knight as the second biggest comic book movie in North America, behind only The Avengers. But at this point, Black Panther could take that throne too.
