Jesse Eisenberg’s Lex Luthor was the main antagonist in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, offering an intriguing new portrayal of Kal-El’s greatest enemy. Lex returned in Justice League‘s post-credits scene, where he offered Deathstroke the opportunity to create their own League. But beyond that, Lex’s cinematic future has been unclear, especially in the wake of Justice League‘s underperformance.
However, Eisenberg is down to reprise the role if Lex were to return. In an interview with Variety, the actor weighs in on the possibility. “I hope so. I mean, I have no idea is the truth. I love playing the character. Probably in terms of movie acting, it’s the most enjoyable character I’ve had the opportunity to play. So I would love to do it again. But I don’t know what their slate is.”
Talk then turned to Justice League‘s deleted scenes. Eisenberg reveals that Lex was always intended to be just in the post-credits scene, and none of his scenes were removed. “Actually, on the contrary, they added some stuff,” he says.
As for where Lex could show up, he can always be in the next Superman movie, which is reportedly a priority at DC Films. And if they ever make a Justice League sequel, then having Lex lead the Injustice League is inevitable.
