Spike Lee Reportedly Set to Direct NIGHTWATCH Movie, Written by LUKE CAGE Showrunner

Last year, it was rumored that Sony was developing a movie about Marvel character Nightwatch. The film is expected to be part of the studio’s new slate of films based on Spider-Man characters, joining Venom, Silver and Black, and Morbius the Living Vampire. The rumor said that Now You See Me scribe Edward Ricourt was writing the movie, while Spike Lee was being looked at to direct. Now, we have an update.

According to That Hashtag Show, Spike Lee is definitely attached to direct Nightwatch. However, he will be working off a script written by Luke Cage showrunner Cheo Hodari Coker. The movie will mark Lee’s first film based on a major comic book property.

Nightwatch will star Dr. Kevin Trench, who (traditionally) witnesses a costumed man die battling some terrorists armed with invisibility-generating cloaking devices, and unmasks the corpse to learn that it was an older version of himself. Trench is then caught in a time loop to save his life.

Stay tuned for more updates as we have it.
