ANT-MAN AND THE WASP Tracking for a $75 Million Opening Weekend

At this point, everyone knows that a Marvel movie is going to make a ton of money. That looks to be the case with its next title, Ant-Man and The Wasp, which has hit tracking boards this week.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Ant-Man and The Wasp is tracking to gross $75 million in its opening weekend. If the movie sticks to that, it will have a noticeably bigger opening than the first Ant-Man, which debuted with $57.2 million in 2015. Of course, since it’s early days still, tracking will likely change as we draw closer to release. Assuming the movie gets positive word-of-mouth, then expect tracking to increase.

Ant-Man and The Wasp is also the first Marvel movie to release after Avengers: Infinity War, which recently hit $2 billion at the worldwide box office. And that movie followed Black Panther, which has currently made $1.35 billion. Could Ant-Man and The Wasp bring Marvel’s 2018 total to $4 billion? We’ll have to wait and see.

Ant-Man and The Wasp is scheduled to hit theaters on July 6th. The 20th installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe stars Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, Bobby Cannavale, Michael Peña, Tip “T.I.” Harris, Judy Greer, David Dastmalchian, Michael Douglas, Michelle Pfieffer, Laurence Fishburne, Hannah John-Kamen, Randall Park, Walton Goggins, and Abby Ryder Fortson. Peyton Reed directs from a script by Rudd, Gabriel Ferrari, and Andrew Barrer.
