FEATURE: Five LEGO Video Games We’d Love to See

Over the years, LEGO has produced many video games based on many different franchises. These include DC/Batman, Marvel, Star Wars, Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, and Pirates of the Caribbean. This year, LEGO is releasing games based on Incredibles 2 and DC Comics’ super-villains.

But it’s not gonna end there. LEGO will likely continue producing games based on licensed properties until the end of time. With that in mind, we have some ideas – specifically, how to expand the DC, Marvel and Star Wars brands.

LEGO Marvel Super-Villains
LEGO is putting DC’s villains at the forefront for a video game, so how long until Marvel gets the same treatment? After three Marvel games starring the heroes, it’d make sense to shift the spotlight over to the antagonists of this universe. Do an original story starring Loki, Thanos, Venom, Green Goblin, and others. Marvel has some really great villains, and like DC, it’d make sense to capitalize on that with a LEGO game. It’s also a neat way to continue the LEGO Marvel series without retreading old ground.
LEGO Justice League
DC Films’ universe is in full swing, with (most of) the movies being financially successful. One way that Warner Bros. can capitalize on this franchise is making a LEGO game based upon it. I was thinking this game would take a page from LEGO Marvel’s Avengers, which adapted the stories of the two Avengers movies and a few other Marvel movies. Likewise, a LEGO DC Films game could focus on the storylines of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League, with single levels for, say, Wonder Woman and Aquaman.
LEGO Star Wars Stories
LEGO Star Wars is arguably the biggest LEGO video game franchise. So far, there have been four games based on the prequel trilogy, the original trilogy, The Clone Wars, and The Force Awakens. (There is also The Complete Saga, which combines the first two games.) For the next title, it’d be cool to see the non-saga stories utilized. Have some levels based on Rogue One, some on Solo, and some on Rebels. It’s a slightly different approach that takes advantage of the other corners of the Star Wars universe. And who knows, maybe they can finish the sequel trilogy with a new game after The Last Jedi and Episode IX.
LEGO Avengers: Infinity War
Avengers: Infinity War is one of the biggest films in cinematic history, without a doubt. So, it’d make sense for LEGO to cash in on that with a game dedicated completely to this film. There was already an Infinity War DLC for LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2, but fleshing it out in its own game is arguably the better move. Having levels based on key sequences, new character designs, and more would be really cool. Also, they could combine this film with Avengers 4 to give the game even more material to work with.
LEGO Marvel vs. DC
You all knew this one was coming. With both Marvel and DC being critical parts of LEGO’s gaming slate, it’d only make sense to do a crossover sooner or later. I mean, a video game (LEGO or otherwise) with Batman, Iron Man, Spider-Man, Superman, Wonder Woman, and more heroes is guaranteed to be a massive hit. It’s a perfect opportunity to play as everyone’s favorite characters, and the storytelling possibilities are endless. Fingers crossed it happens sooner than later.
