Review: BATMAN: THE ENEMY WITHIN

In season two to of Batman: The Telltale Series we battle against the likes of the Riddler, Bane, Harley Quinn and Amanda Waller. We continue to see Bruce Wayne’s struggle with his duality. Is this game as good as it’s predecessor or does it fall flat? Well, let’s find out.

We pick up not too long after the events of the first game. The Riddler, Gotham’s biggest criminal, has returned with a vengeance. Batman along with the help of Commissioner Gordon try to take down Riddler but are unsuccessful. This leads to Waller and her agents joining the fight. We also dive into more of John’s story. With the emergence of Harley Quinn, will this be what leads to him becoming the Joker? The story gets more intense as it goes on. I’m not going to spoil it but it’s crazier than the first season.

The gameplay is standard Telltale fair. You point and click, mostly making choices that don’t have much effect on the narrative. One thing that stood out was how violent it was compared to the first game. It was a little gratuitous at times and didn’t mesh with the rest of the story. Still, it doesn’t hold it back. The characters are what sell this game. All the main voice actors return from the first game along with some new ones. The performances are fantastic, the glitches from the first game have been fixed, and the atmosphere phenomenal.

Batman: The Enemy Within is a solid addition to the Telltale franchise. It does have some weak points but it is still an amazing ride.
