Spider-Man Character Silk Getting Her Own Movie at Sony

Sony has been working on building its own Marvel Universe, using characters based on Spider-Man lore outside of its deal with Marvel Studios. Venom kicks things off this fall, with Silver & Black (starring Silver Sable and Black Cat) in development. Movies starring Nightwatch and Morbius the Living Vampire are also in the works. Now, we can add a new title to the slate.

According to trades such as The Wrap, Spider-Man supporting character Silk is getting her own movie. While no writer or director is attached yet, Amy Pascal is on board as a producer. The film will be part of Sony’s Marvel Universe.

Created in 2014, Cindy Moon is a Korean-American teenager who was bitten by a radioactive spider. Or, more accurately, the same radioactive spider that bit Peter Parker and turned him into Spider-Man. Cindy too gained spider powers, and she became a hero called Silk.
