Why the X-Men Should Not Join the Marvel Cinematic Universe

Yes, you read the title right. Don’t get me wrong. I like Marvel Cinematic Universe. I might not like some of them, but I am a fan. I can even go so far that Marvel could probably do wonders with the X-Men.

But why then don’t I want the X-Men in the MCU? Well, that’s the entire point of this article. So with no further ado, let’s get going.

A) X-Men wasn’t there when MCU started.
Introducing X-Men is not the same thing as introducing the likes of Spider-Man, Fantastic Four. Both of these people are just several people. You can easily adapt them in. That’s not the case with the X-Men. You have thousands, close to millions of “people” to integrate among the fact that they don’t get their powers by accidents like previously mentioned Spider-Man or previously mentioned Wolverine.

What would the explanation be about Charles and his X-Men not helping out during every Avengers movie (especially Infinity War) without making them look bad? Do you want me to believe that Magneta, also known as Erik Lehnsherr/Max Eisenhard has not caused chaos in some capacity since World War II which is when he is supposed to “unlock his powers”?

Giving them powers through some magical accident or experiment would not make it X-Men. Then you might as well try and salvage The Inhumans since you do your best with Iron Fist.

B) Minimize the chances of exploring the world.
You might have heard some people said that before (but it’s true). But if Marvel would get their hands on X-Men, you can be sure of that there will be less of them from time on. Marvel don’t have unlimited time and unlimited resources to put out 10+ movies each year if that’s what you think.

X-Men is such a big world on its own that is worth exploring. Keeping it held back by other movies would (in my personal opinion) be a great shame.

C) Having other superheroes around deletes the point of the X-Men.
Point C is something that I’ve thought off before Marvel Cinematic Universe even was a thing. When Marvel, a couple of years back wanted (according to rumor) putting X-Men alone from the rest of the Marvel characters I was probably one of the few if not the only one to applaud the idea.

The main idea behind the X-Men is human population reaction and actions toward something that is shaking one of the pillars of society. Where the ones with powers more than often are seen as threats because they are different.

With this in mind, what’s the logic of having the likes of Avengers is seen as heroes while mutants such as X-Men is a big social issue?

Sure, fights between Hulk and Wolverine is fun, the interaction between Spider-Man and Deadpool is entertainment. But adding them into the world of Avengers contradicts the point of what makes X-Men what they are.

D) Verdict
Who knows, maybe in the distant future we have a Marvel Studio produced X-Men movie that nails the introduction without me feeling the feelings I have now. But as of me writing this, I can’t say that the notion of X-Men in Marvel Cinematic Universe appeals to me.
