ANT-MAN AND THE WASP Falls to #2 in its Second Weekend

Ant-Man and The Wasp is now in its second weekend, where it faces off against new competitors Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation and Dwayne Johnson’s Skyscraper. The Marvel Studios sequel still held its own, but it still had a larger-than-usual drop for a MCU movie.

Per Box Office Mojo, Ant-Man and The Wasp grossed $29.1 million this weekend, putting it in second place behind Hotel Transylvania 3‘s $44.1 million. This gives the movie a 61.6% drop from its opening weekend. This puts it right behind Spider-Man: Homecoming (62.2%) as one of the largest second-weekend drops in the entire MCU.

It’s not all bad news, however. Ant-Man and The Wasp reached $133.1 million domestically, while bringing in an extra $35.3 million from overseas. This brings its worldwide total to around $284 million. With the film having a $162 million production budget, it should have no trouble turning another profit for Marvel. But, we’ll see what its final numbers will be at the end of its run.

Stay tuned for more box office updates as we have them.
