Rumor: Nicolas Cage Voicing Spider-Man Noir in SPIDER-MAN: INTO THE SPIDER-VERSE

Sony Animation’s Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse has already assembled a great cast of web-slingers. The movie will star Shemaik Moore as Miles Morales, Hailee Steinfeld as Spider-Gwen, and Jake Johnson as Peter Parker. And that’s not including supporting actors like Liev Schrieber and Mahershala Ali. Now, rumor has it that the movie will feature a big name as another Spider.

According to Discussing Film, Oscar winner Nicolas Cage is set to voice Spider-Man Noir in Into the Spider-Verse. This version of Peter Parker is from the Marvel Noir universe, set in 1933 (aka during the Great Depression). Noir is a darker take on Parker, who uses guns and doesn’t hesitate to hurt or kill criminals. Parker and his supervillains (Goblin, Vulture, etc.) are more grounded too.

This marks Nic Cage’s latest venture into the comic book genre. He played Ghost Rider in Sony’s two films, while he voices Superman – a role he nearly played in live action – in this summer’s Teen Titans GO! To the Movies.

Hopefully, we’ll hear confirmation of more members of the Spider-Verse popping up too. Stay tuned.

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse hits theaters on December 14th.
