SPIDER-MAN: FAR FROM HOME Casts J.B. Smoove in Lead Role

Marvel and Sony’s Spider-Man: Far From Home recently began production. We hadn’t heard too much about casting for new characters, beyond Jake Gyllenhaal being in talks to play the villain Mysterio. However, that’s about to change, and we have a new addition to the sequel’s cast.

According to Deadline, Curb Your Enthusiasm actor J.B. Smoove has joined Spider-Man: Far From Home. His character is currently unknown, but he is said to be playing a lead role in the sequel. Funnily enough, Smoove played Peter Parker’s driving instructor in a Spider-Man: Homecoming Audi promo last year. However, it’d be surprising if they gave Peter’s driving instructor a lead role in a full movie, so Smoove is likely playing someone else here.

Tom Holland, Marisa Tomei, Zendaya, and Michael Keaton are reprising their roles from the first movie, while director Jon Watts is also back. Stay tuned for more news as we have it.

Spider-Man: Far From Home hits theaters on July 5th, 2019.
