Warner Bros. Denies Plans to Release Zack Snyder’s JUSTICE LEAGUE Cut, Or Any Other Alternate Versions

Ever since Justice League hit theaters last year, fans have campaigned tirelessly for Warner Bros. to release Zack Snyder’s original cut of the movie. We don’t need to go into detail here on how WB was unsatisfied with Snyder’s cut, how Joss Whedon changed things, and how the film lost money for the studio. Then there are the debates on whether Snyder’s cut actually exists, and if so, in what condition.

Well, regardless of that, we shouldn’t expect it to be released. The Wall Street Journal has published a story on the #ReleaseTheSnyderCut movement, interviewing fans behind it and offering some background details. The site has confirmed with Warner Bros. that there are no plans to release any alternative versions of Justice League, including the Snyder cut. This likely won’t change fans’ passion behind the movement, but as of right now, the studio isn’t budging. So, don’t expect WB to announce anything at San Diego Comic-Con this weekend…if ever.

WSJ’s sources add that Snyder did assemble a rough cut in late 2016, but he never intended for it to be released. In fact, he oversaw the new scenes written by Whedon and planned to shoot them. Obviously, that never happened.

Ultimately, it looks like WB is dead set on moving forward from Justice League and building out the future of DC Films. I personally have mixed feelings about the whole thing, which I touched upon HERE. While it’s a shame that WB wouldn’t let Snyder fulfill his original version, I still enjoyed the movie that we got. And if that’s all there is to it, then so be it.

Stay tuned for more as we have it.
