FEATURE: Six Marvel and STAR WARS Projects We Want to See on Disney’s Streaming Service

Next year, Disney is launching its very own streaming service. It will include your favorite Disney movies, plus content from the worlds of Marvel and Star Wars. Among the exclusive projects in development are Jon Favreau’s Star Wars series, an unnamed Marvel show, and a new season of The Clone Wars.

Of course, it’s not gonna stop there. Disney will surely look to mine these franchises more and more for exclusive content, whether it’s as a movie or a show. Here, we list six projects that we want to see on Disney’s streaming service.

Marvel’s Most Wanted
Marvel’s Most Wanted was an intended spinoff for Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. focusing on Bobbi Morse and Lance Hunter. ABC ultimately passed on the pilot, and while the network still controls any future release, there hasn’t been any movement. It would be ideal for ABC to let the project move to Disney’s service. Or, they could even rework the concept into either a Mockingbird solo series or another team. Basically, Mockingbird is a good character who is sorely underutilized in the MCU, and this would be a good way to shine the spotlight on her.
Yoda Movie
Ever since Disney acquired Lucasfilm and announced plans for Star Wars anthology films, one name that has been constantly rumored is Yoda. It’s unknown what the movie would be about, but it would presumably be an origin story of sorts for the Jedi master. Yoda is an interesting character, and a movie could work. But with the future of the anthology films unclear after Solo‘s poor box office, this would be a better fit for streaming. It could also be a high-profile name that would attract more attention to the service, as Yoda is still one of the most recognizable Star Wars characters.
Howard the Duck

As we all know, Howard the Duck was the star of a movie that was a critical and financial failure. However, the character resurfaced in the MCU in Guardians of the Galaxy‘s post credits scene, and he was briefly seen again in Vol. 2. It’s unclear if/when he will show up next, but something on Disney’s streaming service would be cool. Whether it’s a movie or a show, it could shed new light on the character while Marvel continues to cash in on Guardians of the Galaxy‘s success. It could continue to explore the MCU’s cosmic side, with plenty of comedy to boot.

Captain Phasma
Captain Phasma was introduced in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, before her story seemingly concluded in The Last Jedi. Fans have been quick to criticize Phasma’s minimal role in both films. Thankfully, comics and books have given Phasma more to do, while she will be in the Resistance animated series. But Phasma could use a bit of redemption in live action, and there are clearly no plans to bring her back to the big screen, so do something for streaming. Preferably a film, but a series can work too.
Inhumans Reboot

I’m just going to state the obvious. ABC’s Inhumans series was the biggest disaster in the MCU’s  history. It was a poor adaptation of one of Marvel’s most fascinating properties. Simply put, it was a waste of potential, and the Royal Family deserves better. So, why not reboot it for Disney’s service? Give it to a creator who has a unique vision and let him/her run wild. And completely ignore the TV show. Get a new cast, new costumes, new tone, new everything. Also, Marvel would surely be reluctant about Inhumans’ box office chances, so this is a good way to bring them back without worrying about the money.

Solo Sequel
And finally, we have an option that almost definitely will never happen in theaters. Solo: A Star Wars Story was a box office flop no matter which way you slice it, and the chances of Lucasfilm continuing this story are slim to none. However, if they ever do, then they might as well put it on streaming. Alden Ehrenreich is under contract for more movies, while the likes of Donald Glover’s Lando and the Darth Maul subplot need more exploration. The budget would be significantly smaller on streaming, but maybe that’s a good thing? Either way, this would be an ideal way to continue Han Solo’s story without risking another box office failure.
