VENOM Sets Record-Breaking Opening in China, Nears $700 Million Worldwide
Venom is still going strong, and this weekend, it finally opened in China, where it has had a record-breaking opening weekend.
The Sony Marvel movie is opening with an estimated $111 million, which is one of the biggest movie debuts in China’s history. It is the second biggest superhero opening, behind Avengers: Infinity War‘s $191 million, while it is Sony’s largest debut in the country. And sure enough, this is giving the movie a huge boost in its box office.
Venom is now at $206.2 million domestically and $467.3 million overseas, bringing its worldwide total to $673.5 million. That number is bound to go higher as it continues in China and other markets. At this point, it’s probably going to make more than Sony’s Amazing Spider-Man movies – and with a much smaller production budget, no less.
Stay tuned for more box office updates as we have them.
