Next Year’s Arrowverse Crossover Will Adapt CRISIS ON INFINITE EARTHS

The CW wrapped up its “Elseworlds” crossover event last night, concluding an insane story that sees The Flash, Arrow, and Supergirl join forces. Without spoiling anything, the event lays the groundwork for next year’s crossover, and now, we know what it will be called. This is the big one, guys.

Next fall, The CW will air the crossover event “Crisis on Infinite Earths,” based on the comic of the same name. “Crisis” is one of the biggest DC events in history, popularizing the concept of major crossover events in comics. It pits DC’s heroes against the fearsome Anti-Monitor, who seeks to destroy the Multiverse.

The story is known for iconic moments like the deaths of Flash and Supergirl, as well as the merging of the Multiverse into a single Earth. It’s obviously unknown how much will be brought onto this adaptation, but either way, it’s a huge deal.

The Flash has been setting up “Crisis on Infinite Earths” from the beginning, teasing Barry’s disappearance, red skies, and more. The only thing is that those events take place in 2024, when “Crisis on Infinite Earths” will air in 2019. Is another major timeline change in order? We’ll have to wait and see.

Another bit of speculation: It’s easy to see the multiple Earths merged into one. It would certainly make crossovers with Supergirl easier. They can even bring in shows like Black Lightning using this approach. But, again, that’s to be determined.
