Kevin Feige Talks AVENGERS: ENDGAME Title and Marketing

Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige was in attendance at the 2019 Golden Globes last night, where Black Panther was up for Best Motion Picture – Drama and other categories. There, Feige was interviewed about the studio’s biggest movie yet, along with other teases on Marvel’s future.

Speaking with MTV News, Feige addresses the secrecy for Avengers: Endgame. It was rumored that the title changed several times, most recently just before the trailer dropped. However, Feige says that the title was finalized very early in the film’s development. And, yes, Doctor Strange’s endgame line in Infinity War was a reference to that.

Other rumors have suggested that Endgame‘s marketing campaign will be extra-secretive, with trailers only showing footage from the film’s first 15-20 minutes. In response to that, Feige says that the rumors are “somewhat accurate.” He elaborates, “Being able to generate excitement without giving away any of the many, many, many secrets would be ideal.”

Meanwhile, Feige reaffirms that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is still definitely happening, while Captain Marvel is in the final stages of post-production. He then says that Black Panther is the studio’s “most important victory” ever. For the full interview, check out the video below.

Avengers: Endgame is set to hit theaters on April 26th. The 22nd installment of the Marvel Cinematic Universe stars Robert Downey Jr., Mark Ruffalo, Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Jeremy Renner, Scarlett Johansson, Karen Gillan, Scarlett Johansson, Paul Rudd, Brie Larson, and Josh Brolin. Joe and Anthony Russo direct from a script by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely.
