Danai Gurira is Leaving THE WALKING DEAD in Season 10

Danai Gurira joined the cast of The Walking Dead in season three, playing fan-favorite Michonne. The character has played a key role since then, but on this show, anyone can leave at any time. Even lead man Andrew Lincoln, who plays Rick Grimes, left this season. Now, the end is near for Michonne.

It has been announced that Gurira has signed one final deal for The Walking Dead, which was just renewed for season ten. She will appear in a handful of episodes throughout the season. After that, she will likely transition to AMC‘s trilogy of movies starring Rick.

Michonne’s exit will mark a blow to The Walking Dead, but it’s not entirely a surprise. Gurira has achieved breakout success for her role as Okoye in Black Panther. She reprised the role in Avengers: Infinity War, and she will likely be back for many more Marvel movies. This clearly would have created conflicts with her Walking Dead schedule, but now, that won’t be an issue.

Stay tuned for more news as we have it.
