New Dark Phoenix Trailer - cover image

20th Century Fox has finally dropped the second trailer for Dark Phoenix, the latest and final installment of the current X-Men franchise. The film is a new adaptation of the Dark Phoenix Saga from the comics. The movie will focus on Jean Grey(Sophie Turner) as she struggles with the Phoenix inside of her, leading to a conflict within the X-Men team.

The trailer is full of new footage, teasing the film’s storyline, somber tone and action sequences. Check it out below.

The trailer is full of exploration into Jean’s struggle with the Dark Phoenix side of her powers. She’s going through an immense internal conflict to try and prevent the Phoenix from taking over. The alien shapeshifter played by Jessica Chastain looks like she’ll be beside Jean the whole time, or playing the telepathy game with her. She’ll be manipulating the Phoenix inside Jean, trying to get the darkness to take over Jean. We see the X-Men trying to help Jean, only for the Phoenix to take her over, and destroy the team. Cyclops and Mystique are clearly trying to prove Jean is still there, and she can come back. But can she?

What do yall think of this trailer? The Twittersphere seems to be having mixed reactions right off the bat. The trailer definitely shows more of the plot, and gives a better picture of where they’re trying to go with the movie.
