THE PUNISHER and JESSICA JONES Cancelled, as the Marvel/Netflix Affair Finally Ends

Netflix played the role of grim reaper last year, suddenly ending most of its Marvel television slate. Iron FistLuke Cage, and Daredevil all got the axe, while The Defenders was never meant to continue beyond one season. And now, Netflix has confirmed the future (or lack thereof) of its final two shows.

It has been announced that The Punisher and Jessica Jones have both been cancelled. The former premiered its season season last month. Meanwhile, Jessica Jones‘ third season is still set to debut sometime this year. This marks the official end of the Netflix/Marvel TV deal; every single show has been cancelled.

Following the announcement, Marvel TV head Jeph Loeb gave a lengthy statement. He thanked the fans for supporting all six Netflix shows, while again teasing future ventures for the characters. Hulu recently expressed interested in reviving cancelled Netflix shows. So, fingers crossed that these adventures will continue.

Stay tuned for more news as we have it.
