Official Plot Synopsis

This is a non-spoiler review for the third episode of Doom Patrol, “Puppet Patrol”. For a review of the second episode, click HERE.

“Puppet Patrol” is a great exposition into Negative Man/Larry, as well as his background before he joined the team. This was the perfect episode to explore his background, as the entity inside him is puppeteering him. Negative Man is struggling to find a peaceful balance between him and the electrical entity inside of him, and right now the balance is leaning towards the entity. Larry is a great character, and Matt Bomer is fantastic as him. One of the first openly gay roles for a hero is well played, and Bomer has taken well to it.

One thing I and many others thought the show would struggle with is how many prominent actors they have on the show. But Bomer seems like he will be sticking around for awhile. Also,Brendan Fraser is coming back into his stride. This is the perfect role for him.

The plot for the episode continues to revolve around trying to find the Chief, and the group goes on a journey together to find him. There’s bonding, crappy TV shows, and some insight into each character. The team bonding is extraordinary, and it really makes you connect to each character and understand them. Crazy Jane is still my favorite, but Negative Man is catching up. I’m still not sure what Rita’s character is going for, so I hope we get more into her later on. Meanwhile, I’m very happy with everyone else’s development, and I’m excited to see where the story goes, and if the group finds the Chief.
