5 Video Game Crossovers We Want to See

Throughout the history of video games, we’ve seen many crossovers between established properties. Mortal Kombat has featured several third-party guest characters, Mario and Sonic have shared the screen, and Marvel has faced off with Capcom multiple times. That’s not even counting franchises like Super Smash Bros., which combine countless properties into a single game.

Of course, with video games growing bigger and bigger, it’s only inevitable for crossovers to continue. Here, we list five crossovers that we want to see. Some are arguably longshots, while others may be more realistic.

Spider-Man Meets Avengers

Marvel Games has made a recent comeback in the form of Spider-Man, which is one of the biggest PlayStation 4 games and one of the biggest superhero games of all time. Next, the company is releasing Avengers. Fans have speculated about a potential crossover for a while. While not directly confirmed, the Avengers developers suggested that the two games’ worlds are separate. However, if Avengers is a big hit, then the possibility is still there. Spider-Man has already established the existence of the Avengers and multiple other Marvel heroes, for instance. Even if it’s something as small as Spidey being an Avengers DLC character, or the team appearing in the next Spider-Man game’s story mode, it’d be great to see the two collide.

Mortal Kombat vs. Injustice

NetherRealm Studios has united the worlds of Mortal Kombat and DC a few times before. Some characters have been DLC for the Injustice series, while Joker was just added to Mortal Kombat 11’s Kombat Pack 1. There was even a Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe game before NetherRealm was a thing. However, it would be cool to see another full crossover game. Specifically, the game would see the Mortal Kombat characters fight the DC characters from the Injustice universe. The two are NetherRealm’s key franchises, so a proper crossover seems inevitable.

Fortnite x Dragon Ball

Fortnite has held crossover events for many IPs, ranging from Star Wars and Avengers to Batman and Deadpool. And as one of the biggest video games in history, they will only continue. One idea is to cross over with a major anime franchise and established video game series, Dragon Ball. Fortnite can bring in costumes, characters, and more from the series into this event. And come on, earning a Victory Royale in Super Saiyan form sounds too good to pass up.

Super Smash Bros. x More Third Party Titles

Originally an all-star Nintendo fighting game, the Super Smash Bros. series has expanded to multiple third-party characters. Sonic, Pac-Man, Cloud Strife, Solid Snake, and freaking Banjo & Kazooie are now playable characters. With Ultimate adding another DLC pack, the potential is there for more third-party fighters. While these may be longshots, I would love to see characters like Scorpion, Kratos, Lara Croft, and Master Chief added to the mix. While Ultimate is the most ambitious crossover game in history, imagine how much bigger it’d be with these characters and more…

Marvel vs. DC

If nothing else, this is the one game I want to see. Both Marvel and DC have established numerous game franchises, but the two companies have never crossed over. It’s understandable why it hasn’t happen, but if it did, it would be huge. Ideally, a fighting game in the vein of Injustice would be perfect. Heck, I’ll take a LEGO game at this point. But seeing the worlds of Marvel and DC collide on a video game would be amazing.
