5 More STAR WARS Shows We Want to See on Disney+

Star Wars has proven to be a huge asset for Disney+, thanks to the success of The Mandalorian and The Clone Wars: The Final Season. The service has several other shows in development, including two starring Obi-Wan Kenobi and Cassian Andor. Meanwhile, characters like Boba Fett and Ashoka Tano have been rumored for their own shows.

Of course, with the franchise’s success on streaming so far, it’s only a matter of time before the galaxy continues to expand. Below, we list five more Star Wars shows that we want to see on Disney+.

Lando

Donald Glover plays a younger Lando Calrissian in Solo: A Star Wars Story. Despite that movie’s underperformance, Glover’s take on the character was well-received. Especially since Solo isn’t getting a sequel, we’d love to see more of Lando’s adventures, whether it takes place pre-Solo or during the OT era. It would further explore that corner of the universe, while it would give Disney+ a recognizable character to add to its spotlight. Also, Glover is a hot talent right now, and Lucasfilm would be foolish not to use that to its fullest potential.

Maul

Another Solo thread to follow up on, Darth Maul’s story has been greatly expanded upon in recent years. In addition to his cameo in that movie, he played a key supporting role in The Clone Wars and Rebels animated shows. Maul clearly has had more development in animation, but it would be great to see more of him in live action. Ideally, a Disney+ series would depict his dealings between Solo and Rebels. Or, if they want a blast from the past, they could explore his pre-Phantom Menace adventures.

Underworld

Star Wars: Underworld was a potential show that George Lucas was developing, before Disney’s acquisition of Lucasfilm. It would have been a grittier, more soap opera-esque take on the saga, dealing with politics and criminal activity taking place in the early days of the Empire. While it was never fully produced, elements have found their way in Rogue One and Solo. Plus, The Mandalorian has been exploring the bounty hunter side of the franchise. Still, this would be a good series to revisit, preferably something close to what Lucas had originally envisioned.

Palpatine

By this one, we don’t mean an actual Palpatine solo series, necessarily. Rather, it would be a limited series set before or during the sequel trilogy. Palpatine’s return in The Rise of Skywalker confused a lot of fans; he was suddenly back from the start without explanation. In fact, we had to find out from a tie-in novel that he was a clone. So, a Disney+ series that fills in the blanks would be interesting. It would at least give some sort of additional insight into how and why the Emperor survived.

The Next Animated Series

With Rebels, Resistance and The Clone Wars all finished, all eyes are on Lucasfilm Animation’s next Star Wars venture. Ideally, it would be a series set between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens. We would love to see more of what Luke, Leia, and Han were up to during that time. Such a series would also have the potential to flesh out the world-building begun by the sequel trilogy – similarly to how The Clone Wars fleshed out the prequel era.
