10 Characters We Want to See on SUPERMAN & LOIS

The CW‘s Arrowverse will expand with its next spinoff series next year. Superman & Lois shifts the focus to Clark Kent and his wife, as they balance the challenges of superheroics and raising two sons. The show is already confirmed to feature several new characters, such as Lana Lang and The Stranger (rumored to be an alternate version of Lex Luthor).

The Arrowverse shows are known for focusing on characters from the comics. Some are making their live action debuts, while others are being re-adapted or even crossing over from other shows. That is expected to be the same with Superman & Lois. And considering the Man of Steel’s gallery of villains and supporting characters, there is no shortage of options.

Below, we list ten characters we hope to see on Superman & Lois.

Supergirl

Getting the most obvious one out of the way. Supergirl has focused on Kara Zor-El’s journey, as she moves away from Superman’s shadow and becomes a hero in her own right. In fact, she has become just as prominent as her cousin (if not more), serving as one of the Arrowverse’s biggest faces. With that in mind, the two cousins have teamed up from time to time. Superman has appeared in a few episodes early on, as well as the last two crossover events. Having Kara appear on her cousin’s show in return is a no-brainer.

Brainiac

Superman has a massive rogues gallery, some of which have appeared in the Arrowverse already. One character who has yet to debut is Brainiac. The villain has been referenced before on Supergirl, where he is said to still be a threat in the future. Also, Brainiac-5 is a regular character on that show. It would be great for Superman & Lois to continue to explore the Brainiac lore, perhaps making him a big bad in a future season. It would be tough to match the quality of his portrayal in Krypton, but Brainiac’s Arrowverse debut is long overdue.

Lobo

Another character who was recently portrayed on Krypton, Lobo is an antihero/bounty hunter who has a history of run-ins with Superman. Warner Bros. has had several unsuccessful attempts to make a Lobo movie, along with the cancelled Krypton spinoff series. So, why not bring him onto The CW? Exploring his history with Superman would be fun, and he would certainly be a different adversary for the Man of Steel to face. Plus, who wouldn’t want to see the Main Man interact with the other Arrowverse heroes in a crossover?

Bruce Wayne

Warner Bros. has had a tight Batman embargo on the Arrowverse, which has slowly been loosened in recent years. This has culiminated in the Batwoman season one finale, which finally revealed Bruce Wayne…’s face. If/when the real Bruce joins the Arrowverse, it would be cool to see him on Superman & Lois. Back on Earth-38 pre-Crisis, Superman and Batman have plenty of history. It would be cool to see that explored on screen, as well as any changes post-Crisis.

James Olsen

Jimmy James Olsen was a regular character on Supergirl, until he left town early in season five. On the show, his friendship with Superman is referenced multiple times. In addition, this Olsen took on the vigilante mantle of Guardian for a while. While his story seems to be finished on Supergirl, it would be nice to see him and Clark catch up on Superman & Lois, even if he just guest starred in one episode.

Perry White

The Editor-in-Chief of the Daily Planet, Perry White is one of the most popular Superman supporting characters. However, apart from a few namedrops, he has yet to appear in the Arrowverse. That can easily change with Superman & Lois. While Clark is apparently fired from the Planet, Lois is still working there, so we can easily see her interact with Perry and others there. And come on, a Superman series without Perry White? Not happening.

Lex Luthor

Wolé Parks’ Superman & Lois character is currently called “The Stranger,” but rumor has it that he’s actually Lex Luthor from another Earth. Meanwhile, Jon Cryer’s Lex has become a major antagonist for the last two seasons of Supergirl, as well as the Paragon of Truth during Crisis on Infinite Earths. Still, Lex has plenty of history with Superman, and the fact that we haven’t seen the two interact on screen yet is ridiculous. So, bringing Cryer onto Superman & Lois is an inevitability at this point.

Mongul

Another lesser known enemy of Superman’s, Mongul is a powerful villain who would be a very formidable match for the Man of Steel. This character has yet to appear in live action, and there appear to be no plans to change that. However, he would be a good fit into the world of Superman & Lois. He is another cosmic character who can expand the series’ scope, while seeing a variation of Warworld in live action would be really interesting. Maybe in the next crossover?

Doomsday

Doomsday is one of Superman’s most formidable threats. In fact, he is best known for killing the Man of Steel for a while in the comics. Superman apparently fought Doomsday in the Arrowverse pre-Crisis, but beyond that, we don’t know much. Bringing the character onto Superman & Lois would be really cool. Sure, they can’t adapt Death of Superman (or can they?), while the CGI work would be a vast undertaking. But hey, if done right, Doomsday would be a great character to see.

Darkseid

Now, onto one of DC’s greatest villains. Darkseid is a character who has yet to be even referenced in the Arrowverse. He will appear in Zack Snyder’s Justice League, and he’s expected to have a role in the New Gods movie. Beyond that, bringing him onto the Arrowverse would be ideal. He specifically has a lot of ties with Superman, so seeing that relationship explored would be great. Also, Darkseid is someone who can easily be the Arrowverse’s next big bad, following the Anti-Monitor.
