New Members of the Family!

We kick this newsletter off with a podcast greeting and a warm welcome to three new members of the WOBAM Entertainment family. Joining us from Revenge of the Fans, we’d like to welcome The Fanboy Podcast and Hops & Box Office Flops. And from veteran WOBAM writers, Michael Thomas & John Mathews, we’d like to welcome Mike and John At The Movies.

These shows are all owned by their creators. As part of WOBAM, we partner together for shared space, audience, and promotion. Apart, we make cool stuff. But together, we’re a united beacon for awesome things.

The Fanboy Podcast is steered by the one, the only, the Mr. DJ Khaled himself, Mario Francisco-Robles. Mario dedicates each show to all things fandom, and you’ll be seeing more things in this space as Mario continues to expand his online presence. Take a listen!

Hops & Box Office Flops comes to us from the Thunderous Wizard himself, Thomas Kelly, and his co-hosts Capt. Cash, Chumpzilla, and Mayor McCheese. Each episode is all about unwinding with friends while enjoying a beer and a movie, so kick back and take a listen! They’ve got a massive archive of episods, and you can listen to them all now!

Mike and John At The Movies is the brain child Michael Thomas and John Mathews. On the show they talk about new movies, old ones, plasma-y ones, and sometimes even TV shows, all from the perspective of love for the craft of filmmaking. Tune in today, or Christopher Nolan will getcha!

THIS MONTH ON WOBAM…

This month in the TV realm, we’re got a piping hot review of the Superman & Lois pilot (THEY FINALLY MADE A LOIS SOLO SERIES, WOOOO!), and Jason Thompson has once again graced us with his reviews of The Flash! Reviews for the first four episodes are up now.

Isak recently shared with us 5 Game Ports That Nintendo Should Do Next, and he also reviewed a port of Persona 5 Strikers for Nintendo Switch. Anymore ports and we’re gonna need a bigger boat.

Landon also reviewed the dueling releases of I Found The Sun Again by Steve Lukather and Denizen Tenant by Joseph Williams. It was a lovely two-for-one Toto combo that fans and newcomers alike can enjoy.

The ever amazing Brandon Alverado brought us his first in a new series he calls The Scarlet Fan Presents, with this installment being all about AMC’s Into The Badlands. “An Opera of Blades” indeed, our brother.

And last, but definitely not least. The thing that dominated all geek headlines the entire month long: The Snyder Cut. Our very own Markus Mattila shared with us Why The Snyderverse Resonates with him so deeply (this also happens to be our biggest article of the year), and Michael wrote our spoiler free review of Zack Snyder’s Justice League. Thomas and the Hops & Box Office Flops crew also reviewed the movie on their show, so be sure to listen in.

MEANWHILE, in Podcast Land…

Brandon Alvarado and Isak Wolff continue to crank out the episodes over on The Amateur Otaku, with recent reviews covering Attack on Titan and The Promised Neverland. Check them out over on YouTube.

Meanwhile, Mike and John released their review of Godzilla vs. Kong, Mario posted his audio commentary of Josstice League, and Thomas and the gang have episodes up for *deep breath* If Looks Could Kill, Top Secret!, Ballistic: Ecks vs. Sever (such an awful movie title, yuck), Green Lantern (yeah, THAT one), Josstice League, and Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance. And they’ll be back this weekend with a review of Ang Lee’s Hulk (Yeah. THAT ONE.).

Shining the Beacon on Others

One of the funniest videos that’s dropped in our feed lately is called “The Worst Lines of Joss Whedon’s Justice League” It’s properly hysterical and the only part of Josstice League that’s worth your time.

Alex Moukala is a music producer on YouTube covering music analysis and arrangements. He recently dropped a video covering the music of Attack On Titan, and his level of enthusiasm is off the charts wonderful. Definitely take a watch, and be sure to follow him on Twitter.

Recently, the dynamic duo known as Daft Punk announced the end of their music career in an epilogue video. But by far the best thing to happen from Daft Punk’s end is onlysmallbites going viral. He’s released retrospectives for all of Daft Punk’s albums, and you’ll find all kinds of music-related video essays over on his channel. And don’t forget to follow him on Twitter!

Could Titanic Happen Again? That’s the question friend of WOBAM Jack Critchley asks in his latest video essay. Is the title clickbait? Is it of historic relevance?? Is it actual questions about the future of movies?!?! The answer is: all of the above! Check out his YouTube channel and Twitter feed for more!

And lastly, we also want to shout out a show Landon worked on called Someone Dies In This Elevator. Created by Tal Minear and Colin J. Kelly, it’s an anthology show where every episode, someone dies in an elevator. The show is crowdfunding now, but the podcast feed is where you can hear the show completely for free, so be sure to check it out to learn more! And follow the show on Twitter, too.
