Adrianne Palicki Looks Back On Failed WONDER WOMAN Pilot, Wants To Play SUPERGIRL
In 2011, Adrianne Palicki played Wonder Woman in a television pilot for NBC. The pilot wasn’t ordered to series, and it’s not hard to see why. However, Palicki did a solid job in the role of Diana Prince, to the point where fans wanted her to get another shot. Speaking with IGN, the actress looks back on her time as the iconic DC character. “I got to play Wonder Woman which was, by the way, maybe one of the coolest things ever.” She then reflects on the pilot’s rejection. “I wouldn’t say regret. I was devastated when it didn’t go and it was expected to. It was one of those things that was shocking. But in retrospect it was probably a blessing. It would’ve been a really hard thing to shoot. And I got to wear the costume — I should say, I got paid to wear the costume! So not many people get to say that. I’m really blessed to have gotten to do that and maybe someday down the line I’ll get to play that character or another awesome icon again.”
While Gal Gadot is set to play Wonder Woman on the big screen in 2015’s Batman vs. Superman (and is expected to reprise the role for future films), fans have suggested various comic book movie roles for Palicki to play. When asked about it, she simply said, “I’m waiting for Supergirl.” She additionally remains coy when asked if she has received any superhero movie scripts recently.
After her presence in the Man of Steel prelude comic and a potential hint in the movie, some are expecting Kara Zor-El to show up in the DC Cinematic Universe sooner than later. Additionally, Palicki played a version of the character on Smallville. Personally, I think she would be a great choice for Hawkgirl/Shayera Hol in a future DC film. Meanwhile, the actress also confirmed that she will return as Lady Jaye in the third G.I. Joe movie.
