SUPERGIRL Casts Hank Henshaw and Kara’s Foster Sister; Andrew Kreisberg Joins as Writer and Executive Producer
CBS has announced more casting news for its upcoming DC Entertainment pilot, Supergirl. Joining the show as series regulars are actors David Harewood (Homeland) and Chyler Leigh (Grey’s Anatomy). The two join Melissa Benoist as Kara Zor-El/Kara Danvers/Supergirl, Mehcad Brooks as James “Jimmy” Olsen and Laura Benanti as Alura Zor-El.
Harewood will play Hank Henshaw, who is described as “a former CIA agent who heads up the Department of Extra-Normal Operations and tracks extraterrestrial threats.” In the comics, Henshaw becomes the Superman villain known as Cyborg-Superman. Meanwhile, Leigh will play Alexandra “Alex” Danvers, Kara’s foster sister who is also a “confident” doctor. Alex is fascinated by Kara’s unique powers from a young age.
Additionally, Andrew Kreisberg has joined the show’s creative team as a writer and executive producer, re-teaming with Arrow and The Flash‘s Greg Berlanti. That makes another connection between Supergirl and the two CW shows, as the producers previously said it was possible for them to crossover at some point.
With filming expected to begin next month, stay tuned for more Supergirl casting news as we have it.
