Characters From ARROW and THE FLASH to Team-Up in New Spin-Off Series From The CW
After The Flash successfully spun-off from Arrow last fall, there has been much talk over what the next spin-off series should be. Many fans have suggested that Brandon Routh’s Atom could headline his own series, while there was interest in a Suicide Squad show (which was ultimately killed by the upcoming film). Other suggested names included Firestorm, Green Lantern and Black Canary. Now, The CW has revealed plans for a new spin-off, and this one sounds very exciting.
According to Deadline, The CW is developing a spin-off show which will star characters from both Arrow and The Flash. Greg Berlanti, Andrew Kreisberg and Marc Guggenheim will spearhead the project, which is being described as a “superhero team-up show.” It will star Arrow‘s Brandon Routh as Ray Palmer/Atom, as well as The Flash‘s Wentworth Miller and Victor Garber as Leonard Snart/Captain Cold and Martin Stein/one-half of Firestorm, respectively.
The most surprising addition is Caity Lotz, who played Sara Lance in Arrow and was killed off this season. It’s unknown if Lotz is reprising this role (Flashbacks? Resurrection?) or playing an entirely new hero. Additionally, this series will introduce three major DC Comics characters who have never appeared in a television series before. Place your bets on who they are.
The currently untitled project is not a part of the current pilot cycle. However, it’s possible that it could go straight to series for next midseason. Finally, since it is early in development, other characters from The Flash and/or Arrow could pop up in this spin-off.
This is surely exciting news for fans of the CW DC Universe. Stay tuned for more as we have it.
