ARMY OF THE DEAD REVIEW: Jackpot!

    May 17, 2021 / 0 Comments

2021 is five months old, and two of its best films belong to Zack Snyder. With Army of the Dead—his first foray with the decaying since 2004’s Dawn of the Dead—Snyder has crafted a grisly and gratifying world. It’s a sandbox all his own, allowing him the freedom to go for broke. That brash style may not suit all genres, but it works perfectly here. There is no greater indicator of that than the movie’s opening credits. After we witness the inciting incident—the escape of the alpha zombie—we then bask in the murderous mayhem of the zombie horde descending on Vegas. The ramifications of which are painted through a montage…

Review: BNA: BRAND NEW ANIMAL Season 1

    July 6, 2020 / 0 Comments

A human-turned-tanuki named Michiru runs away to Anima City. There she hopes to get protection and answers. When she meets Shirou, a beastkin who can turn into a wolf, the answer might not lie so far away. Like A Whisker Away, I found this randomly on Netflix. It looked like it could be a lot of fun, pressed play, and here we are. Twelve episodes later, and BNA: Brand New Animal has ended up as one of my new favorite series in a long time. When a story wants to incorporate an important subject matter, the writer always takes a big risk. Insert it amateurishly and it can become jarring. That…

    Review: A WHISKER AWAY (2020)

    July 4, 2020 / 0 Comments

When Miyo Sasaki gets the chance to transform into a cat, she uses it with the hope of knowing more about the boy she has a crush on. Problems arrive, however, when the line between being human and cat becomes shorter. There are times where you find something at random. Be it the library or a garage sale. When it comes to A Whisker Away, it was a random scroll when I search on Netflix. I read the premise, saw the trailer, and thought it could be a cute animated movie. Luckily for me, it ended up being just that. At first, I was unsure of what to think about…

EUROVISION SONG CONTEST: THE STORY OF FIRE SAGA Review

    June 30, 2020 / 0 Comments

In this Netflix movie, two aspiring musicians get the chance to prove their worth through the Eurovision Song Contest. Watching a Will Ferrell movie is the textbook definition of not knowing what you are in for. He is very much hit or miss. When it comes to his latest movie, Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga… we have another miss on our hand. This movie could have been a cute and harmless movie about two artists fighting for their dreams. But it is all brushed aside due to D jokes and have Will play what he has played the most (a middle-aged manchild). Exception for the singing, it…

Review: SPACE FORCE Season 1 (2020)

    June 4, 2020 / 0 Comments

The same day that Mark R. Naid finds himself as a four-star general, the army assigned him for the new program called Space Force. With this program, the United States Army aims to be the largest force in space. On May 5th, Netflix released a trailer for its upcoming series Space Force. Due to its great cast and a setting that writes itself, the trailer made me interested. Weeks later, I open Netflix and I’m ready to go. Ten episodes later, and I was filled with disappointment. Space Force is the perfect example of a missed opportunity. Not only does it feels like a first draft (or even improve at…

Book One: Water We’ll make this pretty easy for you. You need to get introduced to the main characters and the world of Avatar. You need to learn of Aang’s mission and why he needs to defeat the Fire…

    Review: EXTRACTION (2020)

    April 26, 2020 / 0 Comments

This movie follows Tyler Rake, a mercenary who gets a job from a drug lord who wants his son back. Extraction is the latest original blockbuster from Netflix, this time with Chris Hemsworth as its main star. After watching it, I feel that it is safe to say that I have mixed feelings about it. The story is a prime example of what you call a generic action film. Be it, characters backstory or the movies way of going through their A, B, and C plot… the plot is as generic as the majority of movies in Jean-Claude Van Damme filmography. Even with that in mind, I can with a…

We all know best practice is to stay inside and avoid contact with people because of the COVID-19 pandemic. These are challenging times, and we all want to do the right thing. So that means, even if you have a small cough, you have to stay at home for a good 14 days. That’s a long time in the house, and things can get boring pretty quickly. But fear not readers, I am here with a list of 14 shows that you can binge-watch while you’re stuck inside. We are only focusing on the five major streaming platforms for this one (sorry Harley Quinn). Links to trailers and clips for…

    Review: Castlevania Season 2

    March 12, 2020 / 0 Comments

Together with a speaker magician named Sypha Bellnandes, and Dracula’s own son Alucard, Trevor goes back to his former home to prepare the battle against the lord of darkness. When the news dropped that the four-episode long adaptation of one of Konami’s beloved franchises, yours truly got excited like a child on Christmas. For me, the first season was a strong appetizer, that made me wish for more. Months go by, and when the date arrives, you could find me outside the internet cafe, consuming the entire menu. So what did I think of it? Well, in short, I loved it. Trevor Bellmont continues to be the cynical bastard that…
