Hops and Box Office Flops: ZACK SNYDER’S JUSTICE LEAGUE – Little Fish Stick and Big Tuna
Zack Snyder’s Justice League is a cinematic anomaly. When Snyder had to step away due to a family tragedy, Warner Bros. (WB) essentially hacked the material he left them to bits. Under the guidance of Joss Whedon, Snyder’s originally footage was morphed into a soulless attempt to capture the magic of the MCU. It didn’t work—a topic we explored in-depth on our Joss-Stache League episode. That film appealed to no one, but it particularly riled those faithful to Snyder’s vision. Thus, #ReleaseTheSnyderCut was born—a fan movement spawned from the betrayal many felt the studio had committed. Make no mistake, folks, this movie is a whole new beast. From Steppenwolf’s arc to Darkseid’s ominous presence to…

Zack Snyder’s Justice League Review – The Age of Heroes Has Returned
So, this is awkward. Almost four years ago, I reviewed Justice League (2017). and enjoyed it for the Frankenstein it was. I was never a fan of Zack Snyder’s work and didn’t care to see his vision for the DC Universe continue. However, his Justice League changed everything. This is a weird review to write because it’s technically a movie you’ve already seen. The premise is straightforward. Like I said in 2017: “There’s an alien threat coming to take over the world. Batman assembles a team of heroes to try and stop them. It’s simple and straight to the point.” However, the biggest difference is the way Snyder treats his characters. We…

EDITORIAL: Why The Snyderverse Resonates With Me To This Day
Man of Steel and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Two of my favorite superhero movies of all time. These two movies have been a big part of my life ever since Man of Steel was released in 2013. No, they are not bright, colorful, and filled with unnecessary jokes. But they took three of the most well-known superheroes in the world and broke them down so that they can be rebuilt to the moral standards and ideals that people commonly associate with Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman. Yes, you are supposed to question Batmans actions in BvS, the fact that he seem to have dropped his moral code of…

Hops and Box Office Flops: JOSS-STACHE LEAGUE – Stiff Upper Lip
Joss-stache League (Justice League) is a cobbled together mess. It’s the Frankenstein’s monster of movies. I wish that were an understatement, but, sadly, it is not; and though it bears Zack Snyder’s name in the credits, it is not his movie. According to Fabian Wagner, the original cut’s cinematographer, up to 90% of what they shot is not in it. That’s right, folks: In under two months, Joss Whedon basically reshot the entire thing. Why? Well, the answer to that is long, winding, and even filled with heartbreak. To keep it brief, the studio was no longer in support of Zack’s vision. When Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice failed to break a…

Our 5 Favorite Moments from DC Fandome 2020 (Part 1)
DC Entertainment tried something new this year. Instead of the usual San Diego Comic-Con panels or out-of-nowhere announcements, the studio held a digital convention for its projects. Dubbed “DC Fandome,” the convention puts the spotlight on upcoming films, television shows, video games, and more. In fact, it was so big, DC decided to split it into two parts. Part 1 took place this past Saturday, while Part 2 will take place on September 12th. Part 1 was a huge success, showing off first looks at upcoming movies and revealing new video games. Fans have been raving about the reveals, trailers, and more since then. Most notably, on the film/TV side,…

5 Characters (and Actors) Who Need to Return to the DC Extended Universe
The DC Extended Universe (DCEU) is a few movies in, and it has already brought countless DC characters to the big screen. Many of them are ongoing roles, with future films/appearances confirmed. These include heroes, villains, and other supporting characters. However, there are also some characters whose futures are uncertain. While not entirely ruled out, Warner Bros. has yet to confirmed more appearances from specific characters. That’s what we’re talking about today. Below, we list five DCEU characters (and their actors) who need to make a comeback. Deadshot (Will Smith) Floyd Lawton was one of the highlights of Suicide Squad, and getting Will Smith to play him was a brilliant…

I Lost a Twitter Bet and Bought THE EMOJI MOVIE in 4K UltraHD
Hey everyone, your friendly neighborhood Editor-in-Chief here. Today’s post is a little different, but it makes for a fun story. Throughout my time on Twitter, I have posted a lot of bets that have not gone in my favor. My track record speaks for itself… But the one I’m going to write about today may be the funniest. It was Summer 2018, and the #ReleaseTheSnyderCut movement was in full swing. At the time, I was convinced that Zack Snyder‘s cut of Justice League would never see the light of day. So you could imagine my disbelief when fans started speculating about a San Diego Comic-Con announcement that year. I was…

HBO Max to Release Zack Snyder’s JUSTICE LEAGUE in 2021
After over two years of #ReleaseTheSnyderCut fan campaigns, it’s happening. Zack Snyder‘s original vision for Justice League will finally see the light of day, courtesy of HBO Max. The streaming service will release the director’s cut of the superhero ensemble sometime in 2021. Snyder announced the news today on Vero, following a watch party for Man of Steel. In the press release announcing the news, Snyder had the following to say. I want to thank HBO Max and Warner Brothers for this brave gesture of supporting artists and allowing their true visions to be realized. Also a special thank you to all of those involved in the SnyderCut movement for…

Review: JUSTICE LEAGUE DARK: APOKOLIPS WAR (2020)
Culminating a seven-year, 15-film animated journey that began with the release of Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox in 2013, Justice League Dark: Apokolips War finds Earth decimated after intergalactic tyrant Darkseid has devastated the Justice League in a poorly executed war by the DC Super Heroes. Now the remaining bastions of good – the Justice League, Teen Titans, Suicide Squad and assorted others – must regroup, strategize and take the war to Darkseid in order to save the planet and its surviving inhabitants. This is truly the war to end all wars, and only the victor will live to enjoy the spoils. Since 2013, Warner Bros. Animation has been building…

How THE BATMAN Can Still Fit Into the DCEU
Fans are highly anticipated the Dark Knight’s cinematic return in The Batman. This time, Robert Pattinson dons the cape and cowl, under the direction of Matt Reeves. The film promises to explore a younger Batman, who explores his detective skills and goes up against several of his classic foes. There is one key thing that fans have wondered, though. How does the movie fit into the greater DC movie universe, if at all? The Batman was intended to be Ben Affleck’s solo outing, before dropping out as director and eventually star. During that time, Reeves has created his own story that resulted in a new cast and a standalone story.…
