FEATURE: Five Marvel Cosmic Movies We Want to See

After Avengers 4, fans should expect to see a very different Marvel Cinematic Universe. Not much is known about the next 20 films Marvel Studios has planned, but one thing we know is that there’ll be a big focus on the cosmic side of the universe. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will set up at least some of these stories, which may include a Power Pack movie.
What next? The cosmic side of the Marvel Universe is vast and full of dozens of characters ripe for franchise potential. We figured we’d list the five movies that we most want to see from this corner of the MCU…
Nova

The intergalactic police force known as Nova Corps were introduced in the first Guardians of the Galaxy movie. In the comics, the most popular member of the group is Richard Rider, who has gone on to be one of Marvel’s most prominent cosmic heroes. So, with the MCU expanding its cosmic world soon, it wouldn’t be at all surprising if Nova comes up. How about his own movie?

Nova would completely shine the spotlight on the Corps, after their introduction in Guardians. Exploring Rider’s powers, police activities and more would make for an engaging film. A Nova movie could also introduce Sam Alexander, the main Nova in the current comics.

The Inhumans
I’m just going to state the obvious. ABC’s Inhumans TV series was the biggest disaster in the MCU’s entire history. The aggressively mediocre show was a poor adaptation of one of Marvel’s most fascinating properties. Simply put, it was a waste of potential, and the Royal Family deserves so much better. So, why not revisit the idea of a movie?
Inhumans was originally going to be part of Marvel’s Phase 3 before being switched to TV. But since that didn’t go too well, maybe the property can get another shot on the big screen. Give it to a director who has a unique vision for these characters and let him/her run wild. And completely ignore the TV show. Get a new cast, new costumes, new tone, new everything. Do a complete and thorough reboot.
The Ravagers

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 introduced Sylvester Stallone’s Stakar Ogord, a high-ranking member of the Ravagers. Following Yondu’s death, Stakar reunited his old team, which is made up of Martinex, Charlie-27, Aleta Ogord, Mainframe, and Krugarr. Several of these characters are members of the original Guardians of the Galaxy team in the comics. One of Vol. 2‘s post-credits scenes saw the reformation of the team, and it would be cool to continue that story in a spin-off.

James Gunn previously said that Stakar will likely appear again in the MCU, whether it’s Guardians Vol. 3 or something else. A Ravagers movie would fully flesh out Stakar and his team. And c’mon, it’s Sylvester Stallone. If you have him play a character in a major comic book movie franchise, then it’s a no brainer to do as much with him as you can. Enter The Ravagers.

Warlock
Fans have been waiting to see Adam Warlock in the MCU for a while. We finally got our first real hint at him in one of the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 credit scenes, which showed his cocoon. Warlock was originally set to be a big part of the movie, but ended up being removed. He will instead debut in another film, presumably Guardians Vol. 3.
If Warlock becomes a recurring character in the MCU, why not give him his own movie? A solo movie could explore Warlock’s immense power set, while further expanding the cosmic side of the MCU. Maybe it could feature The Magus as well. But simply put, Warlock’s arrival in the MCU has been a long time coming, so when he does come, use him to his full potential.
Fantastic Four
Finally, we have our biggest wish for the MCU’s future. The Fantastic Four film rights have been owned by Fox and Constantin Films for a while, with three films being released. However, none of the movies were that well received, with the 2015 reboot particularly being a critical/commercial flop. Last we heard, Fox put a Doctor Doom movie and maybe a kid-centric spinoff into development.
However, it now looks like Disney is on the verge of acquiring Fox, which will likely result in the Fantastic Four joining the MCU. And what’s not to love about that? The characters would finally have a shot of getting a good movie, showing audiences just how great they are. And you know Marvel wants to emphasize on Silver Surfer, Galactus, and other cosmic characters. But ultimately, the Fantastic Four and their supporting characters belong in the MCU.
Honorable Mentions: Howard the Duck, Captain Marvel 2, Rocket & Groot, Silver Surfer, Thanos
