BATMAN V SUPERMAN News Bits: Michael Uslan On Batfleck, Zack Snyder Defends Aquaman, Harry Lennix Speaks

This news round-up for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice starts off with an executive producer on the film seemingly debunking a recent rumor. Speaking with App, longtime Batman EP Michael Uslan talked about the highly discussed casting of Ben Affleck as the Dark Knight. Comparing the controversy to initial reactions to Heath Ledger being cast as Joker and Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, Uslan says that all the complaints about Affleck’s Batman will look silly once we actually see him in action. He also seemingly reveals Bruce Wayne’s age in Dawn of Justice. “So, this has happened time and again, and it happened with Affleck. To go back to the original thought of Bruce Wayne in his mid-40s, I think he’s going to be extraordinary.” A recent rumor suggested that Batman will be in his 50s in this movie, but if Uslan’s comments are anything to go on, then it looks like that was false. In other news, Batman v Superman director Zack Snyder has once again shown his enthusiasm for the genre. While filming the Justice League prequel in Detroit, he called into local radio station 97.1 The Ticket to defend Aquaman. Of course, the King of Atlantis is expected to be played by Jason Momoa in both DC films, even though all involved have remained mum on the casting. Regardless, Snyder overheard criticisms of the character on the station and decided to call in to share his thoughts. “I don’t want to give anything away about the movie, but Aquaman has some cool abilities. People are like: ‘Oh, what? Does he talk to animals? Cause that seems like what he does. Or fish?’ The cool thing with Aquaman is he’s Triton, so you have to realize that could cut the flesh of Superman if they came in contact.” He then offers further indication of Aquaman’s presence in Dawn of Justice, saying, “He’s super-strong cause of course he can exist at these super-deep depths, so when he comes up here, he’s crazy strong. Not to say he’s in my movie or anything like that. But he has the potential to be badass. That’s all I’m saying.” You can listen to the on-air discussion here. Hopefully, we will receive confirmation of Momoa’s casting sooner than later.

Finally, we have a new interview with a returning cast member. Speaking with ScreenweekTV, Man of Steel actor Harry Lennix confirms that he is reprising his General Swanwick role in Batman v Superman. He discussed working with Ben Affleck again on the movie, and he also praises the “dramatic” script. He then weighs in on the many rumors surrounding the project, suggesting that some of them are true and that the fans know more than he does. Which rumors, though? We’ll just have to wait and see. You can watch the video interview in its entirety below.

Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice is scheduled to hit theaters March 25th, 2016. A follow-up to Man of Steel, the second installment in the DC Cinematic Universe stars Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Amy Adams, Gal Gadot, Jesse Eisenberg, Callan Mulvey, Tao Okamoto, Holly Hunter, Jeremy Irons, Diane Lane and Laurence Fishburne. Zack Snyder directs from a script by Chris Terrio and David S. Goyer.
