WONDER WOMAN Won’t Have a Post-Credits Scene

The trend of a post- or mid-credits scene in movies has become very common over the past decade or so. Marvel Studios popularized the concept of having at least one additional scene during or after the credits of each movie, teasing what’s to come next. Other franchises, such as X-Men and Warner Bros.’ MonsterVerse, have adopted the practice in recent years.
However, the DC movies rarely have credit scenes. Green Lantern tried it back in 2011, but that obviously didn’t pan out. The DC Extended Universe’s first two installments, Man of Steel and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, did not have credit scenes. But Suicide Squad did have a mid-credits scene, which made fans wonder if this will continue to be used for later DCEU films.
Well, we can rule out at least one installment. Speaking with CinemaBlend, producer Charles Roven confirms that DC’s next film, Wonder Woman, will not have a credits scene. He explains that the crew shouldn’t have to feel forced to include one if it’s not necessary. “I’m not going to say we’d never do one. … There was one in Suicide Squad. But I don’t think that we want to feel that we’re forced to do something just because we didn’t in the past.”

So, when you go see Wonder Woman next week, you can go ahead and leave when the credits begin rolling. And don’t expect credits scenes to become a regular thing in the DCEU just because Suicide Squad did it. It’s possible that other movies, such as Justice League and Aquaman, could utilize the concept, but don’t be shocked if they don’t.

Wonder Woman is scheduled to hit theaters June 2nd. The fourth installment in the DC Extended Universe stars Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, Robin Wright, Danny Huston, David Thewlis, Ewen Bremner, Saïd Taghmaoui, Elena Anaya, Lucy Davis, Lisa Loven Kongsli and Connie Nielsen. Patty Jenkins directs from a script by Geoff Johns and Allan Heinberg.
