All the way back in 1993, a little game named Myst entered the market. Myst was responsible for fueling the adoption of the CD-ROM drive, and went on to become the best selling game title of the 20th Century. It spawned novels, comics, spin-offs, and a gestating TV show from Legendary Entertainment. Now, more than 25 years later, the creators of Myst are ready to bring the series back with a BANG.
Yesterday in stealth fashion, Cyan launched a Kickstarter for the Myst 25th Anniversary Collection.
The collection includes the original 7 games, together for the first time, updated to play on modern Windows 10 machines. The games are available in different reward tiers, including a $49 digital download, a $99 collector’s book + DVD and Digital copies of the games, a $169 version of the book with an LCD display, and a $250 tier for the LCD book, DVDs, Digital downloads, and a replica inkwell from Riven. A $1,000 tier for original Riven concept art has sold out.
Cyan soared past their funding goal in a matter of hours, and are poised to double their funding goal in the coming hours. The book, inkwell, and DVD editions available exclusively as part of the Kickstarter, and will not be made available again. The campaign will conclude Thursday, May 24th, 2018 and 1:02 PM EDT, so there’s still plenty of time to hop in on this rare opportunity.
