Jesse Eisenberg In Talks To Return As Lex Luthor In SUICIDE SQUAD
One of the most controversial and unexpected casting decisions in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice was Jesse Eisenberg signing on to play Lex Luthor. While many agreed that the Oscar nominee is a fine actor, this choice seemed more bizarre than, say, Ben Affleck as Batman. We’ll have to wait and see how Eisenberg does in the movie, but it looks like we will be seeing more of him in the DC Cinematic Universe either way.
According to Deadline, Warner Bros. is in talks with Eisenberg to reprise the role of Luthor in the Suicide Squad film, which will be the next DC movie following Batman v Superman. This is the latest casting rumor for the David Ayer written and directed film, which is also courting Will Smith, Tom Hardy and Margot Robbie for unidentified roles. The biggest issue with landing Eisenberg is his prior commitment to Arms and the Dudes, and he is unlikely to be able to do both. Hopefully, the studio will be able to make a way for Eisenberg to do Suicide Squad.
There’s no word on what sort of role Luthor would have in this movie, especially since he wasn’t in the original script. Could he be an actual member of the Squad, or could he replace Amanda Waller as the one who forms Task Force X? Or maybe it’s a minor role to connect Suicide Squad to the rest of the DC Cinematic Universe? We’ll have to wait and see. Suicide Squad is set to hit theaters August 5th, 2016.
