Yesterday, Heroic Hollywood shared some possible updates surrounding the planned Man of Steel sequel. The movie probably won’t be released until 2019/2020, George Miller may direct this or Dark Universe, and Brainiac is probably the villain. Today, the site has shared another rumor that may reveal the plot of the follow-up. If true, it looks like Man of Steel 2 will feature two of Superman’s iconic villains, as well as a certain cousin of his.
[The Following May Contain What Some Would Consider SPOILERS From Man of Steel 2.]
So according to Heroic Hollywood, it looks like the genetic codex from Man of Steel that was injected into Superman’s DNA may again be a focus in the sequel. This will be what Brainiac is after. But, instead of going after Superman, it looks like he may be pursuing another Krypton survivor: Kara Zor-El, aka Supergirl.
Fans have suspected that Supergirl would appear in a Man of Steel sequel for a while. In the first movie, an open pod on that Kryptonian ship suggested that there was another survivor who is wandering the Earth, and it may have been Kara. Also, a Man of Steel prequel comic book focused on Kara and her role on Krypton. Of course, this movie iteration won’t be the same as the Supergirl seen in the upcoming CBS show.
In fact, according to Heroic Hollywood, the plan has always been to include Supergirl in Man of Steel 2. Zack Snyder and David Goyer allegedly pitched this plot for a sequel before Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice was a thing. It is said that Supergirl will have just a big a role as Superman himself in the follow-up, and this is what attracted George Miller in the first place. Those who saw Mad Max: Fury Road know that Miller can wonderfully handle a strong female lead, so imagine what he can do with Supergirl.
One more thing – in Man of Steel 2, Brainiac apparently creates a weapon based on what knowledge of Krypton he has so far, and he sends
it him to track down Supergirl. That weapon is none other than the infamous Superman villain Bizarro!
Keep in mind that this info is completely unverified by an official source. For now, it is just a rumor and should be treated as such. Take it with a pinch of salt until official confirmation. Stay tuned for more as we have it.
